For all the freshmen of class 2015, welcome to Stanford! For the rest of us old timers, welcome back!

This year Stanford Newtype will again host weekly screenings of the latest and best in Japanese animation.  Thanks to our sponsorship from Crunchyroll, we get to (legally) watch many of the most recent shows within days or hours of  airing in Japan.  Dates and times are TBD, so stayed tuned to our emailing list.

We will also be working on our own  doujinshi this year, sequel to last year’s Nibbles.  If you want to join in on the action, sign up on the list.

As club members may know, we published a (very short) doujinshi for AOD this spring. We’re aiming for something a bit more voluminous for Fanime this year and hope to add in some short stories as well as perhaps a CD with a PDF of the doujinshi on it and an original song.

Our weekly meeting is tonight (Saturday) in Gates B12 tonight at 8pm!  We’ll be continuing Toradora and watching another random from this season, so come and watch!

Afterwards, we’ll be continuing discussion of our Fanfic collaboration and some cosplay.  Gaming will conclude the meeting.  Be there!

Palo Alto has a sister city in Japan, and they are both hosting a festival in Palo Alto in one week from this Sunday.  It sounds like a lot of fun!

Karaoke!

We’re going to have our first event this year, which will be Karoke at Gamba at this Sunday!  We’ll be leaving campus from Escondido Turnaround at 10am, Sunday 10/3.
The place we are going to has a bunch of Japanese songs, on karaoke machines from Japan, and they were just updated a few weeks ago, so it should have most of the songs you’re looking for.
We will go until 3-4pm.  Please bring some cash if possible, about $15.  But, they do take credit cards, also.
On the way there, we’ll stop by Ranch 99 Deli for Dim Sum or other snacks, but don’t eat too much!
